A Girls Athlete of the Year

Sydney Burak of Alonsa School – participated in volleyball, badminton, and track & field. She captained her volleyball team, and in track & field she captured a silver medal in varsity girls high jump at the 2024 Provincial Track & Field Championships. Sydney was Alonsa School’s female athlete of the year in 2023 and 2024, while maintaining an academic average of 90%. She is a volunteer coach for the school’s JV basketball and track and field teams, vice president of the ACTION school group, teaches Ukrainian dance, is a member of Winnipeg Optimist Athletics, involved with the school’s dance club and grad committee, and is this year’s class valedictorian.
