A Boys Athlete of the Year

Sam Gurke of Alonsa School – participated in soccer, volleyball, curling, badminton, and track & field while holding an academic average of 93%. Sam was co-captain of his volleyball team that captured the A Provincial Volleyball Championship banner where he was named tournament MVP. He is a Volleyball Manitoba Graduating All-Star and a recipient of the Stefan Savoie Memorial Scholarship. Sam was also a member of student council and participated in the school’s Remembrance Day service and Christmas concert. He was won a silver medal as a member of the U19 volleyball team that participated at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games.
