Jersey Hansen-Young with a 96% academic average and a rigorous course load, including Advanced Placement (AP) Biology and Calculus, Jersey demonstrates outstanding dedication to her studies. Described by teachers as compassionate, hardworking, and a natural leader, she has excelled academically while balancing her athletic commitments.

Jersey's volleyball achievements are remarkable. As a starter since Grade 9, she has been a key member of Vincent Massey's junior varsity and varsity teams. Her senior season highlights include leading her team to the AAAA Provincial Championship—the first in the school’s history—and being named MVP of the tournament. She was recognized as Volleyball Manitoba's High School Player of the Year and ranked the #1 player in the Winnipeg Free Press coach's poll. Jersey also contributed to her team’s victories with a standout performance in the provincial semi-final and final, securing 32 and 22 kills, respectively.

Beyond school volleyball, Jersey has played for the Manitoba provincial team in 2023 and 2024 and club volleyball since Grade 8. Jersey’s coaches highlight her exceptional work ethic, leadership, and positivity, particularly during challenging matches, where her composure inspires her teammates to persevere.

In addition to her athletic and academic commitments, Jersey gives back to her community. She volunteers by coaching children’s volleyball and soccer, teaching swimming lessons, and lifeguarding. Her leadership extends to mentoring younger athletes at Club West volleyball camps.

Jersey plans to continue her volleyball career at the University of Manitoba while pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree, with aspirations to become a veterinarian.
