Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Payton led the Wawanesa Warriors Softball team to a Zone 9 Championship on Friday, May 23rd. She threw her heart out for the team pitching all 11 innings in the semi-final and final. In the semi-final, Payton threw 4 innings giving up 7 runs, 2 earned with 7 strikes outs. At the plate, she went 2 for 3 with 1 walk, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. She then threw all 7 innings in the final giving up 3 hits, 3 runs, 0 earned, 2 walks and 8 strikeouts in a 7-3 victory over Virden. At the plate, she went 3 for 4 with 1 walk, 3 stolen bases, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. She is a team leader and lead by example in a gutsy performance throwing her heart out and leaving it all on the field.

Payton is a great student athlete who finds a way to manage her school and athletics throughout the year. She started the year on the golf team, she plays on the U18 AAA Wildcats hockey team, she played girls doubles badminton and throws discus and runs on our 4x400 relay team in track and field. She does all this while maintaining a 93% average.
