Athlete of the Year

A Girls:

Ky Solomon of Hamiota Collegiate Institute – A true school leader and multi-sport student athlete, Ky has capped her final year with honours across seven varsity programs while giving back generously to her school and community.

On the trails and fairways, she captured Zone championships in both cross-country and golf, earning the best individual golf score and qualifying for provincials in each sport. The winter season brought more success: Ky led the school’s varsity girls volleyball squad to a zone-final berth and provincial appearance, then steered the basketball team to a Zone title, leading the league in scoring, claiming Player of the Game honours at provincials, and taking home the school’s Varsity Girls Basketball MVP Award. She rounded out the year by winning the Zone singles badminton crown (again booking a spot at provincials), while also competing in varsity softball and track & field.

Ky pairs that on-court excellence with extensive service. As Student Council sports representative she organized intramurals, staffed score-tables and the canteen, and helped drive grad-committee fundraising. In Shoal Lake she volunteers with the United Church Nearly New Sale, delivers Meals on Wheels, and helps distribute Christmas hampers to local families.
