Athlete of the Year

AAA Girls:

Shannon Bodnarus of Collège Stonewall Collegiate – Shannon has made a massive impact at Stonewall Collegiate through her athletic versatility, academic excellence, and deep commitment to leadership and community service. Competing in six varsity sports and taking on a wide range of school and community roles, Shannon has become a role model for her peers and a well-rounded leader both on and off the court.

In her Grade 12 year, Shannon competed in volleyball, basketball, badminton, cross country, golf, and track & field, qualifying for MHSAA Provincials in five of those sports. On the volleyball court, she was a cornerstone of the team’s success, helping lead them to a Provincial Finalist finish at the AAA Girls Volleyball Championships, earning a place on the Volleyball Manitoba Graduating All-Star Team. She also captained her 18U Club Volleyball Team and trains as part of the Team Manitoba Volleyball Program.

In cross country, Shannon helped guide her team to a Zone 5 Championship and a Provincial Silver Medal in the team category. In badminton, she captured the Zone 5 Varsity Girls Singles title and advanced to Provincials. She also competed in varsity golf provincials, where her team was crowned Zone 5 Champions, and in track and field, where she qualified for Provincials in the Pentathlon.

Outside of athletics, Shannon is deeply immersed in school life. She serves on the Leadership Team, Link Leader Team, and Grad Committee, helping organize school spirit events, fundraisers, and student mentoring initiatives. She is a committed performer in concert band, jazz band, chamber choir, and concert choir, participating in numerous concerts and festivals throughout the year. As a member of the Club de Français, she has promoted French immersion through extracurricular events and leadership conferences. She has volunteered at a local bee farm, served as a swimming instructor and lifeguard at the Arborg Aquatic Centre, and coached young athletes at the Arborg Beamers Gymnastics Club.
