Athlete of the Year

Overall High School Male Athlete of the Year & AAAA Boys:

Magnus Carlos of Institut collégial Vincent Massey Collegiate – Magnus has had an extraordinary final year at Vincent Massey Collegiate as a respected leader on and off the court. Competing in basketball, volleyball, and track and field, he has earned accolades across all three sports while contributing meaningfully to his school and community.

On the basketball court, Magnus led the Trojans as team captain and top scorer, averaging 23 points and 3 steals per game. He was named Basketball Manitoba’s AAAA Male Player of the Year, #1 Ranked Player in the Top Ten Coaches Poll, and was a Graduating All-Star. He earned Provincial All-Star honours, helped guide his team to a Final Four finish at Provincials, and led Massey to a WWAC Championship title. Individually, Magnus was named an all-star at the p Western Canada Tournament in Kelowna, the Vincent Massey Invitational, and was MVP at the DMCI Tournament, where his team claimed the title.

Magnus also brought his leadership to the volleyball court, helping the Trojans to a WWAC Final appearance and a AAAA Provincial Final Four finish. He participated in track and field to round out his school sport involvement.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Magnus contributed to his school community by volunteering at the VMC 3x3 tournament, officiating intramural games, helping at an elementary school track meet, and participating in the Terry Fox Run and Diversity Club Seminar. He also maintained Honour Roll status throughout the year. Magnus served as a mentor coach for youth in the Ignite Basketball program and volunteered serving Christmas dinner at an inner-city school.
